Summer WishList: RK's The Boxer
Its been far too long since I've taken the time to actually posts the different things that catch my eye, life just gets busy sometimes. But that being said, lets see how long I can keep at this, this time around. I'm sure everyone on the blogworld has seen the lovely Garance Dore's photo collaboration with Reed Krakoff, if you haven't, I'm more than happy to share the images. This boxer bag is slowly filling up all the spare space I have in my brain while I'm at work.. yes, in just a few months, that bag will be perched atop my suitcase as I jet off to my next exotic location, which in the world of IT will most likely be Buffalo NY, however, that is not the point.

Adding a little colour..
Once again life has opened up a little bit and allowed me time to breath therefore time to, once again, pay attention to this little pet project of mine. Over here in Toronto winter decided to show up slightly later than usual, making January that much more thrilling... However! Talks of a beach vacation in February has me all kinds of excited and embracing the colours that spring has to offer. I'm not quite sure what caused the change, but i'm finding myself drawn to more obnoxious shoes than usual, slowly leaving the world of neutral heels behind. This most recent attraction has been eliciting questionable looks from those who think neon has no place in footwear. Two things; to those of you who breath & preach black shoes, A. i used to be one of you, and B. bright colours are not as scary as they may seem. Here are some ideas for spring incase you have the urge to step away from a monochromatic wardrobe and and into the invigorating world of greens, pinks, blues and yellows!

mani fridays: part I
fridays.. ohh fridays, i absolutely love them! Aside from the fact that this particular friday my voice is cutting out every three words and my nose has taken on the functions of a tap, fridays are a time to celebrate making in through the week. A brief moment of relaxation before you get into the swing of the weekend, I tend to reward myself with getting my weekly manicures on friday. I'm notorious for sporting nude shades on my nails, every once in a while I'll toss in a rich navy or deep red, but for the most part I keep them simple. That being said, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't finding myself increasingly more interested in this years' nail art trends; from timeless shades of green to bedazzled jewels or delicate lace stamps, I'm thinking that this holiday season my nails will be living in a whole new world of glamour. Perhaps not for today, today I'll most likely stick to the shellac moon mani route, but definitely, definitely next friday, given that we'll officially be in december & explaining to my boss the concept of holiday manicures will make much more sense once we're in the blessed month. Consider the photos below my monthly nail checklist *note* be sure that when going into the nail salon you have a picture ready on your phone... you'd need the best communicating skills to try and describe an "ombre, glitter, reverse, french manicure...with snowflakes"

designer vault: rochas
after going through my morning reads this morning i came to the conclusion that rochas is definitely churning out a large portion of my favourite designs this year. Acting designer Marco Zanini, who took over the title in 08 once rochas brought back their fashion house, was not thrown into an easy role. Olivier Theyskens had been artistic director from 03-06, having revamped Marcel Rochas' original feminine silhouettes donned in chantilly lace, Theyskens drew attention from fashionable celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth and Rachel Weisz. Given that some of Theyskens' gowns ran up to $20,000.00, Zanini decided to take a bolder and more affordable approach with his designs, rebuilding the brand "brick by brick." While his clothing designs have been creating a substantial following, paying homage to the women of the 50's, its his shoes that have me, for lack of a better word; drooling. The mosaic platform sandals posses everything I love in a shoe: chunky heel, classy lines & some serious height. They're the perfect shoe to pull you through these quickly dropping temperatures and remind you that along with summer vacations, comes the summer heels. Looking to have some rochas delivered straight to your doorstep, may I suggest the following: barneys, la garconne, net-a-porter, browns fashion or edit new york

seeing red
giving much thanks to the midterms that had recently taken over my life, i have now made it out on the other side, relatively successful. now i can finally put attention back into areas of my life that are much more rewarding, for instance... shoes. my shoe collection is absolutely notorious for having a rather morbid colour scheme, black everything - some have a colourful detail, but that doesn't count. Never been overly drawn to brightly coloured shoes and that statement still stands true, however, perhaps given that we are approaching my favourite season of the year (hello kris kringle) i've found myself wishing i had a lovely pair of red heels every time i open up my closet. i've been keeping an eye out for the perfect pair and compiled twelve very appropriate options.. you can definitely count on those alexander wang simona heels making their way onto my christmas list.

man-repelling trend: the turtleneck
after taking a few lazy days away from the computer, i figured with my extra time on this chilly wednesday morning, the fog is currently creeping in over the lake allowing a fifteen foot visibility radius, i would take the time to share with you my preferred sweater for this kind of weather: the turtleneck. the turtleneck has had a bad rep, nightmares from elementary school photos have kept turtlenecks at the back of our closets allowed to only see the light of day when we are having those sitting-around-watching-bad-movies kind of day. however, thankfully the designers who rule the ready to wear have taken the turtlenecks' comfort into consideration and have once again made them socially acceptable! secretly my boyfriend, who currently lives on the other side of the world over in france, is rejoicing - nothing like your girlfriend sporting a giant turtleneck to put your mind at ease.
rachel comey turtleneck pullover $403, viktor & rolf turtleneck tunic $695
thom browne striped turtleneck $1708, helmut lang mock neck pullover $320
cacharel two toned turtleneck sweater $475, pringle of scotland waffle knit turtleneck $495
alexander wang chunky zip back pullover $725, rag & bone fenway turtleneck $325

TOM FORD: documentary
anyone who knows me and my fashion history knows that i've been doing my best to slowly build up a healthy collection of tom ford designs, noting that slowly is the key word in this phrase. i wouldn't even know where to begin when it comes to describing the fashion crush i have on this talented man, which is why i will actually be tuning into "own," ms. winfrey's network for most likely the first and last time, to watch The Visionaries: Tom Ford. this is definitely one of those "save the date!" kind of moments: Sunday Oct. 23, 8pm on OWN... now comes the task of finding a friend who actually gets that channel, and then after watching the doc, questioning why i am friends with someone who has that channel.
